Language Week der 6a in Dublin

The students of class 6A enjoyed a language trip to Dublin, with their teachers Ms. Eberhöfer and Ms. Holzhofer. Our journey began on Monday, March 4th, when we left Vienna airport at half past eleven in the morning.

After a two-and-a-half-hour flight, we landed in Dublin to find rainy weather, as expected. We spent some time exploring the city on foot before meeting our host families later in the day. Unfortunately, none of our host families lived within walking distance of the town centre, so we had to rely on public transport to get around.

In the mornings, we attended English classes taught by native speakers. The journey to school on the first day was a bit challenging. Some of us got lost on the way, but we all managed to find our way, eventually. The traffic being on the left side was weird at first. As the week progressed, it became easier to navigate. Using public transport not only helped us explore more of the city but also improved our ability to find our way using Google Maps. The people we asked for help were always very friendly and helpful. Wednesday, Cliffs of Moher Trip:
We spent five hours on the bus, and it was great fun! We sang songs together and listened to music, even though it got hot on the bus and we almost suffocated. When we finally arrived, we explored the area and were amazed by the breathtaking scenery. Climbing up, we saw the stunning Cliffs of Moher. Looking down, we could see the dark water and the wild waves of the sea. We looked around and admired the beautiful surroundings. Afterwards we bought some souvenirs and went down to the bus to go home. (Miriam Schiller, Julijana Martin, Dina Mujkovic)

Thursday, Dublin sites:
After our language lessons, we gathered at Trinity College and decided to visit the Book of Kells exhibition. After the museum, we went to the Famine Memorial. We crossed the Ha’penny Bridge and walked through some of the famous streets of the city. (Arian Nirnberger, Paul Pantucek-Eisenbacher and Matthias Tschida)

Saturday, Trip to Galway:
After an early breakfast, we met at the Kilkenny Shop and then boarded a small bus to Galway. The bus ride took about three hours, and when we arrived in Galway, our first stop was the Oscar Wilde statue. Then we were allowed to stroll around the town in small groups. Some of us went shopping and visited the seafront. During lunch, we had to watch out for seagulls trying to steal our food. We had to be careful walking around as there were a lot of hungry birds attacking people.

Throughout the city, we encountered many buskers, street musicians performing in the streets of Galway. At 2:30 p.m., we met up and took the bus back to Dublin. After arriving in Dublin, it took us a long time to get back to our host families. That evening, we went to bed tired and exhausted from the day’s activities.
