C1-Trip nach Lovech, Bulgarien
Anfang November 2020 stand der erste Kurzzeit-Schulaustausch, organisiert durch die profiliraa ezikova gimnazia Ekzarh Yossif I in Lovech (Bulgarien), auf dem Programm.
Am 4. November traf sich das Ödenburger-Team zu Mittag am Wiener Hauptbahnhof, um zum Flughafen zu fahren. Gemeinsam flogen wir mit Austrian Airlines nach Sofia.
Die offizielle Eröffnung des Austausches fand am 5. November statt. Die Zeremonie begann mit den Reden des Schulleiters der gastgebenden Schule, Herrn Radoslav Hitov, und der offiziellen Gäste – Herrn Ilian Todorov, stellvertretender Bezirksgouverneur des Bezirks Lovech, Herrn Ventsislav Hristov, stellvertretender Bürgermeister der Gemeinde Lovech, und Herrn Elenko Nachev, Leiter der Bezirksinspektion Lovech. Die Koordinatoren der sechs Partnerschulen hissten gemeinsam die EU-Flagge unter den Klängen der Ode an die Freude.
Die Zeremonie endete mit Volkstänzen, danach wurden die Gäste mit selbst-gebackenem Brot vor einem Festsaal begrüßt, wo die Präsentation der internationalen Teams während einer Pressekonferenz stattfand.
Das Programm dieses Austausches war äußerst interessant und abwechslungsreich. Dazu gehörte der Besuch der Prohodna-Höhle in der Stadt Lukovit, die das Hauptziel des Austausches war. Zwei Öffnungen der 300 Millionen Jahre alten Höhle geben ihr den regionalen Namen Götteraugen.
Nachdem sie die interessante Geschichte dieses Naturphänomens kennengelernt hatten, bestand die Aufgabe der Partnerteams darin, Vorschläge für die Entwicklung des Ortes zu einem attraktiven Reiseziel mit den Möglich-keiten der VR und AR zu machen.
Am Morgen des 6. November durften die Teilnehmer*innen an interessanten Workshops teilnehmen, die in die Methodik der professionellen Debatten einführen.
Es wurde eine interessante Präsentation der BEST Foundation – Bulgarian English Speech and Debate Turniere gezeigt, mit einem Fokus auf die Leistungen der bulgarischen Studenten bei den inländischen Turnieren.
Unter der Leitung von Ms. Allison Rice, einer Fulbright Assistant English Teacher an der gastgebenden Schule, führten die Schüler anschließend eine interessante Debatte über unbezahlte Praktika.
C1 – Short term exchange to Lovech
At the beginning of November, the first short-term school exchange was planned by the profilirana ezikova gimnazia Ekzarh Yossif I in Lovech, Bulgaria. On November 4 the Ödenburg team met at noon at Vienna Central Station to drive to the airport. Together we flew to Sofia with Austrian Airlines.
The official opening of the exchange took place on November 5. The ceremony began with the speeches of the headmaster of the host school, Mr. Radoslav Hitov, and the official guests – Mr. Ilian Todorov, deputy district governor of the District of Lovech, Mr. Ventsislav Hristov, deputy mayor of the municipality of Lovech, and Mr. Elenko Nachev, head of the regional inspectorate Lovech. The coordinators of the six partner schools jointly hoisted the EU flag under the sound of Ode to Joy.
The ceremony ended with folk dances, after which the guests were greeted with homemade bread in front of the America for Bulgaria Hall, where the presentation of the international teams took place during the press conference, as is the old tradition. The program of this exchange was extremely interesting and varied. This included a visit to the Prohodna Cave in the city of Lukovit, which was the main purpose of the exchange. Two openings of the 300 million Old Cave give it the regional name Gods Eyes.
After getting to know the interesting history of this natural phenomenon, the task of the partner teams was to make proposals for the development of the site into an attractive destination with the possibilities of virtual and augmented reality.
On the morning of the November 6, two training sessions were held to disseminate good practice.
The first was a demonstration of the skills and competences that young animators should possess, as well as an introduction to the daily challenges they face.
The second workshop aimed to introduce the partners to the methodology of professional debates. An interesting presentation of the BEST Foundation – Bulgarian English Speech and Debate tournaments – was shown, with a focus on the achievements of Bulgarian students at the domestic tournaments.
Under the direction of Ms. Allison Rice, a Fulbright Assistant English Teacher at the host school, the students then had an interesting debate about unpaid internships.
Die Gäste hatten die Möglichkeit, sich mit den Leistungen der Gastschule, die eine beeindruckende Tradition im Fremdsprachen-unterricht hat, durch ein Video über die Schule und durch den Besuch im Klassenzimmer, vertraut machen.
Zum Programm des ersten Austauschs gehörteauch eine Besichtigung mehrerer Sehens- würdigkeiten, die in den Reiseführer aufgenommen werden, den die Partnerschaft als Endprodukt anbieten will.
The guests had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the performances and good practices of the guest school, which has an impressive tradition in foreign language teaching, through a video about the school and through the attendance in the classroom.
The programme of the first exchange also included a tour of several attractions that will be included in the tour guide that the partnership wants to offer as a final product.
Die vom Gastgeberteam organisierten Bildungsausflüge boten den Gästen die Möglichkeit, das Trojaner Kloster und den ethnographischen Komplex im Dorf Oreshak sowie die Sehens-würdigkeiten von Lovech zu besuchen.
Auch die lokale Politik war Teil des Austausches, so wurden wir im Sitzungssaal des Stadtrates von Lovech vom Bürgermeister Lovech persönlich empfangen.
Die Schüler*innen schlossen nicht nur Freundschaften und hatten viel Spaß bei allen Aktivitäten, sondern lernten auch viel über die Gemeinde und das Land ihrer Gastgeber. Sie erwarben bei diesem interkulturellen Austausch wertvolle Kompetenzen und konnten ihre Englisch-Fremdsprachenkenntnisse in der Praxis erproben.
Alle Teilnehmer*innen des ersten Kurzzeit-Schüler+innenaustauschs lernten das bulgarische Bildungssystem und innovative Ansätze im Schulmanagement kennen, aber auch die lokale Kultur, das Volkshandwerk und die Bräuche, die Küche und den Lebensstil Bulgariens.
Da die Schüler*innen bei Gastfamilien untergebracht waren, bekamen sie ein stärkeres Gefühl der europäischen Zugehörigkeit und wurden Teil der Familie von Mitschüler*innen.

The educational trips organized by the host team offered guests the opportunity to visit the Troyan monastery and the ethnographic complex in the village of Oreshak as well as the landmarks of Lovech.
Local politics was also part of the exchange, so we were received personally in the meeting room of the City Council of Lovech by the mayor.
The students not only made friends and had a lot of fun in all activities, but also learned a lot about the local community and the country of their hosts. They acquired valuable skills in this intercultural exchange and were able to test their English-foreign language skills in practice.
All participants in the first short-term student exchange got to know the Bulgarian education system and innovative approaches to school management, as well as the local culture, folk crafts and customs, cuisine and lifestyle of Bulgaria.
As the students were accommodated with host families, they got a stronger sense of European belonging and became part of the family of classmates.
